Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation
The Komen Foundation was founded in 1982 on a promise made between two sisters – Nancy Goodman Brinker and her dying sister, Susan Goodman Komen. Nearly 25 years later, the Komen Foundation is an international organization that fulfills its mission through a network of more than 75,000 volunteers working through more than 100 Affiliates in more than 15,000 communities to fund innovative breast cancer research and vital community outreach programs. Since inception, the Komen Foundation has invested more than $630 million in its four-prong mission of research, education, screening and treatment. Working through a network of U.S. and international Affiliates and events like the Komen Race for the Cure® and the 3-Day walk, the Komen Foundation is fighting to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease by funding research grants and supporting education, screening and treatment projects in communities around the world.

More than 200,000 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed in the United States this year and more than 40,000 American women and men will lose their lives to the disease. One woman is diagnosed with breast cancer every 3 minutes. Every 13 minutes, the disease claims another life in the United States. Join us as we help support Jennifer and Sandy who walk to bring an end to Breast Cancer. During the months of June, July and August we will donate a portion of all sales to the 3-Day walk. You can learn more about the Susan G. Koman Foundation and the 3-Day walk on their website.

One Iowa
One Iowa works for GLBT Equality in Iowa through voter identification, grassroots organizing and educational events.

One Iowa advocates for same-sex couples to have the right to marry.

Denying equal access to marriage deprives LGBT people of critical rights, protections and responsibilities and violates our state's fundamental guarantee of equality for everyone.
Marriage provides a comprehensive package of economic and social protections to couples and their children. In 2004, the U.S. General Accounting Office listed 1,138 ways in which marital relationships are given special treatment by the federal government. These include:

* Access to employer-provided health and retirement benefits for partner and nonbiological/adoptive children
* Access to partner’s coverage under Medicare and Social Security
* Ability to visit or make medical decisions for an ill or incapacitated partner
* Right to sue for wrongful death of partner
* Ability to sponsor one’s partner for immigration
* Streamlined adoption processes for married families
* Children in married families have access to health benefits and inheritance from both parents
* Right to maintain relationship with non-biological/adoptive parent in the event of other parent’s death (in states without same-sex second-parent adoptions)

There are also hundreds of rights, benefits, and responsibilities automatically conferred upon married couples that have implications at the local and state level, and in relation to employers and private entities.

Stray Rescue of St .Louis
Stray Rescue's sole purpose is to rescue stray animals in need of medical attention, restore them to health, and place them in loving adoptive homes.

Virtually all of the pets we save have been abused and neglected. They've been dumped on highways, or remote country roads. Abandoned in public parks, empty houses and dark alleys. We've even saved dogs left chained behind buildings after their owners had moved away.

Rescued animals often make the best pets. Pets from Stray Rescue seem to understand that they have a second lease on life. In return for a little affection and attention, these remarkable animals reward their new owners with a love and loyalty unmatched anywhere.

The Animal Rescue Site
The Animal Rescue Site focuses the power of the Internet on a specific need -- providing food for some of the 27 million unwanted animals given to shelters in the US every year. Over 10 million animals are put to death every year in the US alone because they are unwanted, abandoned, or abused.

Each click on the purple "Feed an Animal in Need" button at The Animal Rescue Site provides food for an animal at North Shore Animal League America or at one of the Fund For Animals' world renowned animal sanctuaries, including the Black Beauty Ranch in Texas and the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in California.
